Saudade – the Portuguese word used to describe the feeling of longing for something or someone – is the name of the new restaurant that opened just in time for Valentine’s Day at Almancil’s five-star luxury resort Dunas Douradas.
Serving Portuguese food with international twists, the new restaurant promises “fantastic drinks, brilliant service and a wonderful ambience”.
“The difference is in the freshness, selection and quality of our products, like the fish and seafood caught on our coast, the prime meat and the herbs and vegetables from our land,” says the Dunas Douradas website.
Kitchen staff is led by chef Rogério Gago, who has created “a unique harmony of flavours” that will try to please the demanding palates of restaurant-goers in the Algarve.
In other words, it will try to live up to its name and cause ‘saudade’ among those who go there to eat and will want to return again and again.
During summer, there will be live music most evenings.
The restaurant can also cater for large parties and groups, with specially created menus, barbecues or buffets.
Breakfast service is from 8.30am to 11am, while lunch is served from midday to 5pm. Dinner is from 6.30pm to 11pm. The bar is open from 8.30am to midnight.
