Drunk motorcyclist attempts unsuccessful bribe

PSP police last week arrested a 43-year-old Moldovan man who tried to bribe GNR officers after running a red light.
According to a Correio da Manhã report, it was around 7pm when the man rode his motorcycle through the red light, in full view of police conducting routine traffic checks in Lagos.
Pulling the man over, the police were immediately struck by a strong smell of alcohol and asked the man to take a breathalyser test.
The man did not refuse to perform the test but attempted to fool officers by blowing into the device incorrectly – and then asked them to “close their eyes”, offering them a €50 note.
Police then took him to the local PSP station where he tried once again to bribe one of the officers with a €50 note. The officer refused and the man was immediately placed under arrest.
When finally forced to take a second breath test, the motorcyclist was found to have 3.49 grams of alcohol per litre of blood. That’s six times over the legal limit.
The motorcyclist now faces drink-driving and attempted bribery charges.
