A 50-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning (August 11) after driving on the wrong side of Algarve’s A22 motorway for 20 kilometres between Alvor and Algoz at around 1am.
It was only when he reached Algoz that the driver realised he was going the wrong way and turned back, according to breaking news website notíciasaominuto.com
When police caught up with him in Portimão, where he lives, and checked his blood alcohol count, it was at 1.2gm/litres – considered a crime in Portugal.
The man was arrested and notified to appear in court.
