Two Easter concerts by the Coro dos Amigos do Museu de São Brás will be held in the eastern Algarve at the end of the month.
The choir, which normally sings a cappella, will this time be joined by a whole host of professional and local musicians who will accompany a full programme, including works by Haydn, Buxtehude and Purcell.
Members of the Quarteto Sul’Arte and the Banda Filarmónica de São Brás de Alportel will also be taking part in the concerts.
“Although the theme of the concerts is music for Lent, as they are taking place the weekend before Easter, there are one or two musical fireworks amongst the impressive programme – and that’s even before the trumpets, trombones and drums join in,” said Diane Cantillon Ings from the Coro dos Amigos do Museu de São Brás.
The concerts will take place at Igreja da Misericórdia, Tavira, on March 27 and at the Igreja Matriz de São Brás on March 29, both starting at 5pm.
Tickets for the concerts, priced €8, will be available on the door.
