A total of 22 people were arrested on December 29 in Lisbon on suspicion of trafficking heroin, cocaine and hashish.
The PSP executed 25 search warrants which resulted in the arrest of 19 men and three women, aged between 17 and 63, in the areas of Bairro da Cruz Vermelha (Lumiar) and Trafaria.
A total of 13kg of hashish, 693g of heroin and 93g of cocaine were seized by police, who had been investigating the network for the past eight months. Cash amounting to more than €12,000, four firearms and ammunition, two cars and computers were also confiscated.
The area used by the traffickers to conduct their illegal activities, near a leisure centre and pre-school, led to a feeling of insecurity among the population which resulted in complaints to the police.
