Three ‘drug mules’ carrying more than 3.5kgs of hashish in their stomachs were arrested by the Polícia Judiciária at the Castro Marim/Ayamonte border on May 24.
Police said the trio was identified and detained after suspicions arose that they were carrying the illegal drug inside their bodies.
The suspects were taken to hospital, where they expelled a total of 435 plastic-coated hashish capsules between them. They have to report daily to the police until trial.
