Drug dealer who escaped police custody in Faro arrested in Spain

Man escaped police after asking to go to restroom

A drug dealer who had escaped PJ police custody in Faro in 2021 after asking to go to the restroom has been arrested in Marbella, Spain.

The man – who is of Portuguese origin but is a French citizen –  was caught again following a joint operation involving Spain’s Guardia Civil, PJ police in Portugal and French authorities.

He had been wanted ever since he escaped PJ police’s grasp in 2021, when he was arrested due to an international arrest warrant for drug trafficking and money laundering.

The suspect had been sentenced to six years in jail in Marseille and was holding a fake passport when he was arrested in Faro.

National tabloid Correio da Manhã adds that PJ police monitored the suspect’s girlfriend to locate him.
