Portugal’s syndicate of drivers of dangerous materials (SNMMP) has reached an ‘historic agreement’ with employers association ANTRAM guaranteeing “very significant” salary increases for 2020.
The deal – expected to be signed by the end of the month – results from the “persistence of all workers who went on strike” (before Easter and in August), SNMMP’s president Francisco Sá Bento told reporters – dubbing concessions won as “victories on the table”.
The SNMMP – formed only a year ago – almost brought the country to a standstill before Easter, and saw the government pull out every stop imaginable to prevent chaos during the August peak holiday period.
