Portuguese lorry driver Paulo da Silva has been jailed for three years for causing the deaths of a family of six in the UK by careless driving (see the Algarve Resident, October 22 edition).
The driver crashed into the car of the Statham family as it was travelling between junctions 16 and 17 on the M6 motorway in Cheshire last October.
Peter Hagans, the father of Michelle Statham, said: “I think from the night of the accident when Mr da Silva butchered our family, which I believe he did, it was not possible to get justice in a British court.”
