Down syndrome swimmer sets new world record

Filipe Santos has set a new world record for the fastest time in the 50 metres butterfly event.

The record (32.68 seconds) was set on February 22 in Vila Franca de Xira during the National Winter Championship for Handicapped Swimming.

Last year a Resident article helped raise money for Filipe Santos to compete in an international swimming competition in November (see http://portugalresident.com/down-syndrome-swimmer-still-seeking-world-cup-support).
