ARMAÇÃO DE Pêra will host the eighth Festival da Caldeirada, a food event showcasing the regional speciality of fish stew, on June 23, 24 and 25. This year’s event promises to be extra special, as it will coincide with the festival of the popular saints and the colourful street parades for Saint John.
So, as well as sampling the very best Algarvean Caldeirada, visitors will also be able to enjoy a party atmosphere and participate in the traditional festivities that will take place in the town’s squares.
The event was first established in 1999 by the President of Silves Câmara, with a view to promoting local restaurants, creating a tourist attraction and staging an enjoyable event for local residents. The Caldeiradas of Armação de Pêra have become extremely popular among national and international tourists who visit the town at this time of year.
As in previous years, the festival will be hosted by the town’s restaurants, which, as well as serving Caldeirada, will also offer a range of other traditional regional, national and international dishes. In total, 21 restaurants will participate in the event this year.
