Door-to-door medical care

Door-to-door medical care

Castro Marim’s mobile health unit will soon be offering ‘door to door’ medical care to communities living in the rural parishes of Azinhal and Odeleite, where health services were recently closed down.
These communities, mostly elderly residents whose means of transport are scarce, will now be able to benefit from a “mobile” health team comprising a doctor, nurse and a social worker.
After a two-month period to test out the mobile health initiative, which registered “excellent results”, an agreement was recently signed between the local council and the regional health administration (ARS) to establish continuity of the service.
Appointments can be made by contacting ABEFSA, the association for wellbeing in the parish of Azinhal.
