This Tuesday may have been a sunny exception, but the rainy and windy weather is expected to return to mainland Portugal tomorrow with the arrival of Depression Elsa.
All of Portugal, including the mainland and the Azores and Madeira archipelagos, are expecting rainfall until at least Thursday, according to forecasts from the Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA). The weather may start to improve on Friday, the institute adds.
Temperatures are expected to increase, however, with minimums ranging between 1ºC in Guarda and 12ºC in Lisbon and the Algarve and maximums between 9ºC in Guarda and 19ºC in southern districts.
IPMA has also already placed Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga on yellow alert due to forecasts of strong winds on Wednesday.
Porto, Viana do Castelo, Aveiro, Vila Real, Braga Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco and Coimbra will also be placed on yellow alert tomorrow due to heavy rainfall.
