“Don’t be alarmed”: Major emergency exercise planned for Faro Airport tonight

Do not be alarmed if you hear sirens coming from Faro Airport tonight (November 26) as a major emergency exercise will be taking place from 10pm to 2am.

In a statement sent to press, national airport authority ANA says that the exercise is recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to test the “time, coordination and evacuation procedure, as well as rescue operations carried out not only by the airport’s own means but those outside the airport”.

It adds that “all the emergency services involved in Faro Airport’s Emergency Plan will be deployed which is why there will be a great movement of emergency and rescue vehicle which will be circulating with their emergency sirens turned on”.
