In an attempt to raise “much-needed” funds for the dogs at the Cadela Carlota animal protection association based in Lagos, Algarve resident Marie Hindle is running the Lisbon Half Marathon, which takes place on March 22.
Having adopted their own dog, Millie, when she was abandoned along with her two sisters and cruelly thrown over the wall into Marie’s garden, just a few weeks old, Marie became aware of the plight of many dogs in the Algarve.
By raising sponsorship money for her run, Marie will be helping Cadela Carlota to help more dogs find new homes and to create space for others to begin their journey “from street to home”.
The marathon starts at 10am on the Almada south side of 25 de Abril Bridge. The route then takes her over the bridge, follows the waterfront westward and finishes at the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos.
