Donations for new feature at synagogue

A WOODEN house at the new Isaac Bitton Museum Synagogue in Faro has been built, but donations for the installation of facilities, electricity and a sound system are still needed.

The new structure will house furniture from the original 1820 Rua Castilho Synagogue, which was demolished circa 1970, originally serving the now defunct Comunidade Israelita de Faro, Jewish community of Faro, from the 18th to 19th century.

A Chuppah (Jewish wedding) will be depicted in the wooden house with an actual ceremony played over the sound system. The scene in the synagogue will be inaugurated on Sunday, June 3.
