Domestic violence up 50% in last two years, says Attorney General

Complaints of domestic violence have increased in Portugal by 50% over the last two years, Attorney General Joana Marques Vidal has told a DCIAP seminar in Porto. The largest number of cases came from the Porto area, she said, followed by a number of parts of Greater Lisbon, Braga, Loures, Lourinhã, Torres Branca, Vila Franca de Xira and Aveiro. All these areas are highly populated and urban.
