Domes Lake Algarve appoints new general manager

João Jesus has been appointed as the new general manager of Vilamoura resort Domes Lake Algarve.

It is a new challenge for Jesus who has a degree in Tourism and a post-graduate degree in Marketing and Tourism, and over 20 years’ experience under his belt working for the Tivoli group, where he started as an intern at Tivoli Carvoeiro before making his way to general manager.

“With solid professional experience and over two decades working in the tourism and hotel sector, João Jesus strengthens the managerial team of this luxury project near Falésia beach in Vilamoura,” Domes Lake Algarve says in a statement to the press.

It adds that the new GM is “very honoured” by the “distinctive challenge” the Domes concept brings to the Algarve and the national tourism sector.

Domes Lake Algarve is reopening in April after undergoing “extensive renovations” to join the Marriott International network, the resort announced last month.

The beachside resort will now be part of Marriott’s ‘Autograph Collection’, described as a “collection of independent hotels handpicked for originality and passion in their every expression”.

Renovations are being carried out to all the 192 rooms as well as common areas, restaurants and bars. Improvements include furniture upgrades and complete revamps of some spaces. Sora Beach, the resort’s beach restaurant at Praia da Falésia, is singled out as one of the locations that is undergoing a major facelift.

Also planned is the construction of a new adults-only pool which will join the other four existing pools at the resorts, providing “more versatility” to Domes Lake Algarve.
