Dolphin celebrates birthday

SAM THE dolphin recently celebrated his 40th birthday at Zoomarine. The Thusiops-Truncatus dolphin is believed to be the second oldest in the world. “Although the life expectancy for dolphins is between 20 to 25 years, Sam is very healthy. He weighs approximately 300kgs and eats very well,” said Zoomarine’s biologists, Élio Vicent. Although Sam only has half a tooth left and suffers from poor digestion, he still eats the same amount as his fellow dolphins. The father of most of Zoomarine’s other dolphins may not be as lively as he used to be, but Sam continues to entertain the spectators who visit the aquatic park. “He’s our biggest star,” Vicent revealed.
