Dog show celebrates  10 years

Scruffts dog show will be celebrating its 10th anniversary when it takes place on September 20 at the Fatacil in Lagoa.

Dog owners and canine lovers will be able to take their pooches along to take part in a variety of competitions, which will be judged by Pedro Albergaria, Vice President of the Portuguese kennel club.

In addition to the normal judging classes, there will also be demonstrations by the AHCTA search and rescue team from Faro and also obedience displays. International dog trainer Yolande Bosman will also be on hand to give personalised seminars with particular regard to clicker training for puppies and older dogs.

Albufeira-based pet food and supplies company Paws4Pets are the main sponsors for this year’s event and will supply the prizes for all judging classes and agility winners.

Local house-sitting company Dogsbodies will also be offering a commissioned hand-painted pet portrait by Karyn Real as a raffle prize, which will be presented to the winner by the president of the Algarve animal charity APAA, Alan Camplin-Smith.

Any dog that is to be brought to the show must be micro chipped and have its vaccination papers up to date.

Entry to the show is one euro for adults, while children enter free. Entry to a competition costs three euros per dog.
