Authorities are searching for the owner of a dog that was rescued from a Ferragudo cliff on Saturday afternoon (January 13).
The animal was stuck on a cliff base two metres above the water near Ponta da Amoreira when it was spotted by a man and his daughter who warned authorities.
The dog was frightened and jumped into the water when members of Ferragudo’s maritime rescue station tried to bring it aboard the lifeboat. However, they were able to pull the animal out of the water and take it back to the station where it was treated by a veterinarian. It had some minor injuries on its paws from the rocky terrain.
One of the rescue crew members had to receive medical treatment for a dog bite.
