Doctors working outside Portugal’s SNS health service will start receiving their vaccinations against Covid-19 this weekend. Say reports, there are 4,198 of these doctors. The vaccinations are already in the hands of the General Medical Council which will see them distributed to military installations in Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon, as well as to Faro Hospital in the Algarve. The north will start administering the vaccines on Saturday, the Algarve is expected to begin on Monday. Older doctors will be inoculated with the Pfizer jab; younger with the AstraZeneca. For now, there is ‘no timetable’ for doctors outside the SNS in the autonomous regions of Madeira and Azores, though Expresso explains local entities are expected to formulate one.
