Doctor hiring at Faro hospital

Faro Hospital is launching a public tender for the hiring of 115 specialist doctors, representing 25% of the total national medical recruitments permitted by the government until the end of the year.

The president of the hospital, Pedro Nunes, said the lack of specialist doctors was becoming a serious problem at the public health facility.

Two official notices from the Health Ministry, published in the Diário da República of June 4, authorised the recruitment of a total of 644 doctors to fill voids at hospital and health centres – 210 vacancies are for general practitioners (family doctors) to be placed at health centres and 434 for medical specialists.
