District Governor visits Estoi Rotary Club

Rotary Club Estoi Palace International received a visit from the Rotary District Governor Joaquim Esperança on Friday, January 28.

The District Governor was taken on a tour of the local community establishments which are supported by the Estoi Rotary Club.

The first stop was the Casa do Povo (House of the People) where the club is funding the purchase of milk given to underprivileged families in Estoi who are registered with the Banco Alimentar Contra a Fome (Food Bank Against Hunger). The Club is also financing improvements to the centre.

Then it was onto the recently-completed complex in Estoi, which includes a residential care home for the elderly with impressive facilities.

After the visits, the District Governor had a meeting with the Club’s Board members and was updated on the club’s development.

A lunch was held at the Club’s venue, the Estoi Palace, and representatives of nine of the Rotary Clubs in the Algarve were present.

The District Governor spoke of his pleasure in visiting a Club of “happy and committed members” and commended the development of relationships with the local community which is the foundation of the Rotary concept.

To commemorate his visit, the Club President Kent Ringborn presented the District Governor with a cheque in support of Portugal Rotary Foundation and the District Governor presented a commemorative gift to the Club.
