Following worldwide outrage over the images of a PSP officer caught battering a father in front of his horrified family at a football stadium (click here) comes news this week that the ‘sub commissário’ from Braga is suddenly in line for promotion.
The news has purportedly been greeted by “disgust” at Filipe Silva’s headquarters in Braga.
The cop with a reputation for being a tough guy was initially suspended and purportedly demoted (click here).
But now, tabloid Correio da Manhã, claims special praise from one of his superiors may change all that.
Colleagues’ “disgust” stems from the fact that CM claims the disciplinary case into Silva’s attack has been “suspended”, meaning that the battering meted out on 43-year-old José Magalhães will not be taken into account by the promotions panel.
Even more galling is the fact that the so-called praise is for Silva’s “good services rendered in sports grounds”.
As readers may recall, Silva was caught on live television attacking José Magalhães in a sports ground, after he caught the father-of-two shepherding his children and elderly father out of an exit closed for use by the public.
