Disgraced magistrate “refuses to go to jail”

The week’s news saw time ‘run out’ for two ‘long time condemned’ personalities with hefty jail sentences. Former PJ policeman Paulo Pereira Cristóvão accepted the inevitable – having been condemned to seven years eight months jail for orchestrating violent robberies in 2019 – and duly presented himself at the gates of Évora prison; but former magistrate Orlando Figueira, condemned in 2018 to over six years in jail for taking bribes (passive corruption) money laundering and document falsification, did not – and thus, according to reports, arrest warrants have been drawn up. So far, no further news.
