Tavira is to host the first Disabled Divers International meeting, which starts today (Friday) and runs until Sunday with a variety of events taking place in the city. Supported by the Algarve Tourism Board, the three-day international meeting will see Portuguese and foreign diving instructors, who specialise in teaching disabled people to scuba dive, talking at a seminar today at the Álvaro de Campos library from 10am.
Diving baptisms and demonstrations on the benefits of diving for people with disabilities are part of the programme of events. Call DDI Portugal on 913 821 392 or visit www.ddivers.org (in English)
