Dear Editor,
As a frequent visitor to the Algarve, I never miss using the regional rail service from Silves to Lagos or to Faro and back again.
Not only does this take the strain out of driving and finding a parking space, it gives us time to enjoy the lovely scenery en route from a different perspective.
Unfortunately, no one seems to have cleaned the windows on these trains for years!
On trying to enjoy the views through decades of encrusted dirt, I thought it would be a good idea that those who have been sentenced by the courts to do community service could be usefully given the job of cleaning these railway carriages.
This would be of great benefit to us rail users, and also be a considerable cost saver to the railway company.
