Diplomatic crisis

Portugal’s tourism chief has denied there is a diplomatic crisis with the United Kingdom following the increase in alert level for the region by Britain’s Foreign Office.

Luís Patrão, President of Turismo de Portugal, said that the new alert level was unjustified and had been over dramatised by the press.

“The issue is being treated with logic and dialogue,” he said, adding that crime statistics will be sent to the British authorities and provide additional information to see whether it’s worth maintaining the Foreign Office website’s recommendations.
