A French diplomat is recovering in Lisbon’s S. José hospital after a horrific attack by his 23-year-old son.
The youth, who is studying in Portugal, is reported to have stabbed his father – the EU’s representative in Tunisia – in the neck, stomach and back. After the knife slipped under the victim’s diplomatic car, he was kicked multiple times in the head. The son is now in preventive custody, while the father’s condition is still considered “serious”.
Named in the press as father Laurent Danois and son Antoine, it is still unexplained what might have sparked the attack.
Eye-witness Artur Albuquerque has told reporters that if a couple had not pulled Antoine off his father, he “would have killed him”.
Even worse are the reports that 53-year-old Danois was admitted to hospital with the feeling of paralysis in his limbs.
