The Silves Bombeiros Charity Fund received 1,000 euros from the generosity of those attending the Vale of Itchen masonic lodge ladies’ evening held at the Hotel Garbe recently. More than 100 members of the lodge and their ladies travelled from England to enjoy a short holiday in the Algarve, which culminated in a dinner dance where they were joined by local masons, their ladies and friends. The photograph shows Alan Williamson, Master of Prince Henry the Navigator Lodge, presenting a commemorative tile to Barry Preece of the Vale of Itchen Lodge. Mr. Preece is holding one of the special double-visor helmets, which charity volunteer, Angela Schulz Henke (pictured) intends to purchase with the money raised. Angela and her fellow volunteer, Ray Bentley, are grateful to all those businesses that donated raffle prizes. The next event is scheduled for April 16 and is a dinner dance at the Clube de Ténis in Carvoeiro. See advertisement on page 10 for more details.
