THE CHARITY dinner dance in aid of the Silves Bombeiros, which was held at the Clube de Tenis, Carvoeiro on Saturday April 16th, was well attended and raised ¤1629.00. Sheena Rawcliffe kindly agreed to act as auctioneer for the evening, and with a steady hammer and plenty of humour she really helped to get the money rolling in. Organisers, Angela and Ray, were very grateful for the support received from local businesses and friends alike who all made generous donations. Thanks also go to Ilze Van Zanten whose music made the evening so special.
It was later learned that Comandante Abel Gomes has decided to step down and hand over to António Domingos. Abel was a very effective leader who gave his full support and encouragement for the work of the charity and is wished every success in the future.
