HAVING CELEBRATED its first birthday on April 1 after a complete renovation, the hotel and restaurant A Colina , near Almancil, is going from strength to strength, with a regular programme of entertainment and fine dining.
Chef and owner Lee Newsome, former head chef at the Savoy London, told The Resident: “Having spent 10 years away, I returned and decided to buy A Colina as soon as I saw it.
“The restaurant and outdoor dining area have the best views of the Algarve and the entire property is quietly tucked in a beautiful orange grove.”
The restaurant features a fortnightly jazz night with members from the New Orleans Jazz Band and the next one will be held on April 25. “We are also organising regular wine tastings with gourmet dinners, where a different vineyard will be invited to A Colina each time as well as alternative music evenings based around the dining experience,” said Lee Newsome.
The menu at A Colina restaurant reflects Lee Newsome’s international influences, with each dish being made with only the freshest and best quality ingredients. “Our modern, international cuisine is complemented with a wine list which features only Portuguese wines,” said Lee Newsome. “I am a great advocate of Portuguese wines as I believe the country has some excellent quality wines, which rival anything available in the world.”
The restaurant is open everyday for lunch and has an A La Carte menu in the evening from 7pm until 10pm. A traditional and very popular Sunday lunch is also available each week between 12pm and 4pm.
