Leonardo Di Caprio, Viola Davis and Anthony Anderson are among the confirmed guests for a pre-Oscars party, taking place today and tomorrow (February 24-25) in Los Angeles, designed to promote the Algarve as a luxury destination for Hollywood’s elite.
Invited celebrities will be offered free stays at top-flight Algarve hotels, including the Hilton Vilamoura, Quinta do Marco (Tavira), Monte Santo Resort (Lagoa), and Bela Vista (Portimão).
The promo initiative, being held in Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, has been organised by Algarve tourism association (ATA) with the help of US travel magazine Swanky Retreats.
ATA says in a statement that the Algarve enjoyed a 23% boost in the number of hotel bookings made by American holidaymakers in 2016. The association wants to keep adding to these numbers, setting its sights also on celebrities.
Leonardo Di Caprio is one of the world’s best-known contemporary actors, having won his first Oscar for his role in ‘The Revenant’, while Viola Davis is among nominees this year for Best Supporting Actress for her role in ‘Fences’.
Anthony Andersen is also an accomplished actor and comedian, having had roles in film such as Martin Scorcese’s Oscar-winning crime drama ‘The Departed’ and blockbuster hit ‘Transformers’.
