Portugal’s DGS health authority has recommended the use of masks in bars and discos even though there is no legal obligation for citizens to comply. For the time being, masks only have to be worn in these venues by members of staff. However, authorities believe customers should try and maintain mask wearing “wherever possible”. “The use of masks in the community constitutes an additional measure of protection”, said a statement. The type of masks has also been stipulated: a ‘community certified mask or a surgical mask’. In other words, not a cloth mask.
