In spite of the good news from the WHO (World Health Organisation) with regard to the Omircon variant, authorities in Portugal are taking no chances. DGS health director Graça Freitas has announced today that the 10-day quarantine period is being extended to 14 as “the periods of this variant are not yet known”. She stressed these measures are temporary “until there is more information on the variant” which the WHO has already admitted is “highly unlikely” to dodge the protection conferred by the vaccines.
