In total, over 46,000 people visited this year’s BTL – Lisbon Travel Market, the largest international tourism fair staged in Portugal. The main focus of the exhibition, held in the FIL in Lisbon recently, was the opportunities provided by the Euro 2004 football tournament, as well as promoting two other important aspects of tourism in Portugal – golf and business tourism. Hundreds of Portuguese exhibitors reflected every aspect of the country, from food to folklore, with the Algarve’s câmaras, hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions well represented. There were also displays on 60 other world destinations and an array of sights, sounds, smells and colours to tempt visitors to find out more. Pictures: Jorge Bife
