According to the health authorities, 2,164 cases of dengue were reported in the last four months on Madeira island. Since the beginning of the outbreak in October, besides the cases registered in Madeira, 11 cases in continental Portugal and 67 in 12 European countries were also reported and all the travellers who brought the virus to these countries came from Madeira. So far, there have been no deaths reported.
