Demand for Algarve getaways continues to rise

As we march towards the summer peak season in the Algarve, enquiries still continue to skyrocket.

According to a recent study by Rightmove, internet searches by British tourists for destinations in Portugal rose 25% in the last week of May.

This clearly demonstrates that it is never too late to secure a summer booking on your property. The demand is clearly there and for property owners who are not currently offering rentals, now is the time to start that journey.

At SandyBlue, we too have seen a surge in enquiries which supports the statistics above. Engagement, particularly on social media channels, is indicative of the Algarve becoming the top destination for holidaymakers in the UK.

Property owners are reaping the benefits

Due to the increasing demand, property owners who are already renting their villas or apartments are seeing fantastic rental income. Within the Algarve’s Golden Triangle, locations such as Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo are always popular choices.

However, more areas within the Algarve are becoming more prominent. It means owners have a great market to tap into and get ahead of the competition. Portimão, Carvoeiro, Lagos and Praia da Luz are just a few areas that offer guests the ultimate Algarve experience.

With guest enquiries increasing by 42% in the last three months, it’s clear that with more areas within the Algarve catching attention, it is no surprise to see such a leap in demand. Our owner partners are definitely seeing the benefits of this, and we expect it to continue.

The importance of social media engagement

More tourists than ever before are looking to social media for travel inspiration. From following influencers to researching areas to visit, the marketing channel needs to be utilised to its maximum potential. With enquiries and holiday research in full swing, now is the time to show tourists what they are missing.

Villa owners, therefore, have to get their properties in front of this audience. Using SandyBlue’s social strategy as an example, website traffic via social media marketing has increased 49% in the last two months alone. There are so many tools that can be used to effectively attract potential guests and secure bookings. These should not be ignored in the competitive travel climate of 2022. ‘The fear of missing out’ is a big emotion in travel, and social media is perfect for showing guests why they shouldn’t miss out on the summer.

It’s time for the summer

The SandyBlue team cannot wait to welcome our guests and give them a holiday to remember. We continue to engage regularly with tourists who have not yet booked their stay so that the many new additions to our villa portfolio quickly see a busy reservations calendar!
