Refurbishment || Tucked inside an old Portuguese tavern, the newly refurbished A Tasquinha in Lagoa has recently become a tapas and wine bar that entices food and wine lovers with charm and culture.
Its homey, unpretentious warmth welcomes visitors to dine in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, where home-made foods and specially selected wines are served to suit all taste buds.
Culinary specialities here, served as main courses or light-sized tapas dishes, are all made from fresh produce bought from local markets on a daily basis, ensuring that a new recommendation suited to the seasonality of the year is available every day of the week.
The menu contains mouth-watering delights such as the typical Algarvean dish, the Cataplana, seafood platters and rice, sole meunière and much more.
Favourites from the tapas selection include the octopus salad, roasted chorizo, plus cheese board selections, in addition to a wide variety of other plates.
Catering to everyone, menus are available for children, vegetarians and also for people who suffer from allergies.
For the connoisseur of fine wines, or simply just for those who enjoy relaxing with a satisfying glass of wine, A Tasquinha offers an extensive selection of wines.
To name a few, the Lagoa Reserva and Quinta do Carmo are two of the red wines sold at A Tasquinha, in addition to white wines Grilos and Planalto, plus the Portuguese classical green wine, Casal Garcia and the rosé wine, Defesa. All products available at A Tasquinha are affordably priced.
A Tasquinha’s owner, Marco Santana, said: “The history of A Tasquinha is what inspired me to turn the over 100-year-old tavern, which has been in my family for 32 years, into a wine and tapas bar.
“There is nothing like this in the area of Lagoa, and I think the rustic, traditional feel of the building makes it the ideal location to house such a place. I really just wanted to create a happy place, where people of all nationalities feel comfortable. A classical place that provides customers with delicious, fresh produce, at economic prices; I welcome all,” he concluded.
