Consumer watchdog DECO detected bacteria in nearly half of the 26 take-away codfish meals it tested at 26 supermarkets in Lisbon and Porto.
Luckily, none of the microorganisms poses serious health threats to consumers, says DECO, but slams at supermarket bosses and workers for not taking more care in the preparation and conservation of such foods to avoid contaminations.
The tested meals were from supermarket chains Celeiro, Continente, El Corte Inglês, Pão de Açúcar, Pingo Doce and Super Cor.
