Authorities have finally reached a decision over policy for the under-60s who received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine before it was decided only the over-60s should have it. Says a new ruling by the DGS health authority dated yesterday, anyone who has been delaying their second dose can receive either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine for their second shot. These two vaccines stem from a different technology (mRNA as opposed to adenoviral vector) but it has been decided it safe to mix the doses. Meantime, 80,000 of the 200,000 under-60s who received their first Astra shot have already opted to take a second, without waiting for the DGS decision.
