Stores || Sport store Decathlon and car service centre Norauto have opened new outlets in Portimão’s new retail area, just across the road from the town’s Retail Centre.
For Decathlon, it is a return to the town after its previous store was burnt down along with six others at Portimão’s Retail Park two years ago.
After the fire, it set up a temporary, much smaller store in Portimão’s riverside. This latest outlet boasts 1,500sqm and an investment of €2 million.
It opened on Wednesday (October 8). Of the new store’s 40 staff, 12 worked at the store ravaged by the fire.
Norauto opened for business at the start of the week.
Meantime, DIY store AKI is due to open in the same retail area in December. Earlier this year, the company revealed it was planning to invest €6.9 million in a new 3,500sqm Portimão outlet as part of its plan to have 40 stores open in Portugal in the next five years.
