Debate on nature and tourism in Aljezur

The Nature Tourism Biennial (Bienal de Turismo de Natureza) starts this Friday at Aljezur’s multipurpose centre focusing on nature, tourism and sustainability.

The three-day conference (February 22-24), organised by Vicentina, the association for the development of the south-west, will bring together tourism professionals, business leaders, public entity movers and shakers, and academics and researchers in a debate examining the damaging effects that the tourism industry has on the environment, heritage, and human and cultural resources.

As a consequence, it places emphasis on the importance of strategic and operational planning and sustainability measures.

Workshops addressing topics such as natural and cultural heritage, nature and tourism activities, and management and certification will be open to those working in tourism companies and entities related to the sector.

The event runs from 9.30am to 10pm on February 22 and 23, and from 9.30am to 9pm on February 24.
