According to the French medicine agency, the birth control pill Diane 35 is related to four deaths from thrombosis after an investigation instigated by a complaint that linked the death of a young victim to a cerebral stroke caused by using the contraceptive.
The product belongs to the Bayer laboratory and is commonly used as a contraceptive but it is also used for acne treatment.
In December last year, a young woman filed a lawsuit because she claims to have suffered a cerebrovascular accident (or stroke) after taking that pill.
The French Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (MSNA) announced on Sunday January 27 that Diane-35 pill will be the target of a “specific analysis” and a “full report” to be publicly released next week.
