A dolphin in an advanced state of decomposition was found on August 11 at Faro beach.
The animal was discovered at about 10am by a marine officer who was patrolling the area.
Zoomarine biologist Élio Vicente said: “The cause of death can either be natural, such as old age, an accident relating to fishing nets leaving the animal trapped or an accident with a boat.”
