With agents scattered all over the world, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is the only US organisation with powers to investigate drug trafficking across borders.
The DEA has managed activity in Portugal from Madrid but recently decided to establish an office in Portugal yet to be opened, with the aim to conduct investigations with the Portuguese law authorities and target major drug trafficking organisations that use Portugal as a gateway for their shipments to Europe.
