ACTING LEGEND Robert de Niro will participate in the second annual Lisbon Village Festival taking place in the capital from June 18 to 24.
The event is the first European festival dedicated exclusively to digital cinema.
Lisbon Câmara made the announcement after meeting to approve the schedule and budget for its cultural calendar in 2007. De Niro will be attending the event in support of his film The Good Shepherd, which premiered in the US last week.
Amaral Lopes, the culture representative for Lisbon Câmara, announced “it has been confirmed that Robert De Niro will be involved in this year’s Lisbon Village Festival.” Last year the inaugural event attracted fellow American actress Mia Farrow who took part in the prize giving ceremony, as well as attending several screenings.
Directed, produced and adapted by De Niro, The Good Shepherd is a thriller that investigates the origins of the CIA and unfolds between 1936 and 1961. Milton Bearden, who spent 30 years working for the secret service of the CIA, acted as one of De Niro’s advisors during production, as well as ex-north American ambassador Richard Holbrooke.
