Data nightmare

It is meant to be the country’s criminal database – to be consulted by police and lawmakers – but instead it’s a “slow, complex and frustrating” nightmare of a system that only 89 people in the entire country say they use. The “Plataforma Integrada de Informação Criminal” has come in for strong criticism in an official report on its first year of use, yet the government has been encouraged to “insist” that police forces and magistrates use it.
