Hawaiian surf legend Garrett McNamara, known for riding monster waves in Portugal’s Nazaré and bringing fame to the location, will be the guest of honour at the inauguration of a waterslide at the Aquashow water park in Quarteira this Saturday (July 4) at 11am.
Described as “the biggest freefall waterslide in Europe”, the new attraction boasts two 32-metre high and 129-metre long waterslides.
Garrett McNamara is famous for breaking the world record for the largest wave ever surfed at Nazaré in November 2011.
McNamara will also be handing out autographs at the water park at 2pm, followed by a conference at 5pm in which he will be giving surfing tips and telling stories about his career, prizes and records.
